Henna Tattoos for your party

Henna is a beautiful and ancient form of all natural temporary body art. Henna has been done for thousands of years by many cultures as a part of ritual, ceremony, and rites of passage as a blessing, to mark an important occasion or simply just for fun!

Henna is recommend for anyone who can sit still for the artist to create an intricate design, and allow the henna paste 15-20 minutes to dry without smearing it. Henna is generally better for older kids, teens and adults and not recommended for younger children. Face painting or glitter tattoos are usually most appropriate for younger age groups. Luckily we specialize in booking multi-talented artists who can offer services for all ages and all occasions!

Bay Area Face Painters are now offering "White Henna" aka Glamour Tattoos. Glamour Tattoos and Glitter Tattoos are waterproof, they dry almost instantly, will last up to 5 days or can be removed the same day, unlike a natural henna tattoo which will last 1 to 4 weeks and cannot be removed until your skin exfoliates. Glitter & Glamour Tattoos are a great additional to henna at your party for younger children or anyone who does not want to have their tattoo last longer than 1 or 2 days.

How does Henna work? How long will it last?

Be still, allow the henna paste that has been applied to your skin 15-20 minutes to dry. Once the paste is dry, your artist will supply you with a lemon/sugar aftercare spray. This sets the henna and keeps is stuck on your skin. The longer you leave the henna paste on your skin, the darker the stain will be and the longer it will last. Leave the henna on for at least 2 to 4 hours, if you can keep is on 6 to 8 hours that is ideal. Watch as the color develops from orange to red to a dark brownish/red color over the next 24-48 hours. Henna tattoos can last 1 to 4 weeks. As your skin exfoliates it releases the dye and your henna tattoo disappears. You cannot simply wash away a henna tattoo. Glitter Tattoos and Glamour Tattoos can be removed same day or last up to a week and are a great alternative to all natural henna. Visit healinghenna.com for an in-depth description of How Henna Works and important aftercare info and preparation tips.

What is Henna?

Henna is an all-natural plant material. All of our artists mix a fresh batch of fresh all-natural organic henna paste for every event. We buy our fresh henna powder from trusted suppliers Online that are based in the United States. Ingredients in our henna paste include black tea, lemon juice and 100% pure essential oils, safe for children, adults and pregnant women. When the paste is applied to the skin, the dye from the henna plant soaks into the top few layers of your skin and leaves a stain. A henna tattoo can last 1-4 weeks depending on placement and aftercare. All-natural henna will always stain an orange - red - brown color.

Warning: Dangers of Black "Henna"

PARENTS PLEASE BE AWARE: Henna is NEVER BLACK. Black Henna is NOT henna. It is PPD, a chemical found in black hair dye that people call "henna". Black Henna can cause severe allergic reactions and permanent scarring. Please read more about the dangers of Black Henna. A way to avoid Black Henna or fake chemical-based henna is to always ask the artist you are about to receive henna from, what kind of henna they are using. If they can not tell you what is in their mix, it is best to walk away. Henna Cones that look like they were purchased from a store, or on Amazon, are in our experience most likely fake henna cones filled with chemicals. Some henna paste manufactured in India might be labeled "all natural" but they are not! We recommend purchasing natural henna powder and supplies from Henna Caravan one of our rusted suppliers based in Los Angeles California.
